Yes, within !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I went through my second “right of passage” as my mom called it. I was heading to a baseball game, doing somewhere around the 55mph speed limit. Right as the Tahoe in front of me moved over, the light turned yellow and I saw a man standing behind a minivan waving for me to stop/look out. I panic braked, but the kid in the Crown Vic who was tailgating me did not slow in time. The van was much closer than the fisheye lens makes it look.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Both cars suffered moderate damage, but just bodywork. The driver of the Ford was cited and his insurance will cover it. Turns out, the van had just rear-ended another car, and they were just getting out.
Two other humorous parts of this story.
1. The deputy who responded asked me if my car was an Audi or a Saab.
2. The other kid’s Crown Vic was a newer model and had recently been bought from the very sheriff’s department that responded. The kid somehow still had the insurance card from when the car was owned by the sheriff’s office, and accidentally gave that to the deputy. He informed the driver that his department would not be covering the accident, and the kid found the correct insurance card.
Bottom line: Nobody was hurt, I wasn’t at fault, car is repairable, all’s well that ends well. Also, even though the cops didn’t ask to see my video, I’m very glad I had my dash camera.

I guess accidents are in the air tonight.

That’s not too bad! Frame should be good, exhaust tip, rear bumper and the lower trim will need replacing though.

You handled way better than my first accident. I got rear ended by a Jeep and nearly broke a bone in my hand beating the steering wheel...
Interesting noises you made there too.

Exhaust also came loose.

Does that mean it sounds sexier?

That was my friend in the back seat lol. I had 3 other people in the car.

The clamps, not the pipe itself. So no.

Guess the dumbass behind you should have followed the 2 sec rule. You know, where you keep a “safe zone” between you and the car in front for situations exactly like this.
Glad nothing too serious happens, poor Audi got a boo-boo though :(

Glad to see you’re alright and the car is repairable. I think I cried my first accident. I was leaving my high school (Glad to be done with that, but the college lot isn't any better), at a stand still due to traffic when the stupid kid behind me decided to move forwards, and into me. And then decided to run after I had a picture of his plate and later as I found out, himself. But hey, I got a shiny new bumper and didn’t have to pay to fix the huge chip that existed before I got the car! And it was nothing more then an indentation of his license plate in my bumper...
I think you're going to get a whole new bumper as well. Must have been scary feeling it happen.

Isn’t the rule of thumb that if no one is injured and the cars are mobile, get them off the road when it happens? Not sit in the left lane and wave people down.

Yes.

Not all that scary. There was an “ah shit” feeling when I realized he was going to hit me (thus the horn), but I knew I wasn’t at fault so I was surprisingly chill.

Too bad I didn’t feel it coming.

I’m guessing the CV had little to no damage?

:-( glad it is reparable and that you're okay. Let us know when it gets fixed!

More rather than less, actually. We were both braking, so his grill hit my bumper.

Thanks, will do!

Something like that. Anyway, it’s no biggie.

Well that stinks! Luckily he had insurance. I was at fault in my first accident. I rear-ended my best friend while we were both delivering pizza. Luckily no dage his Ranger, and only minimal to my Olds.

Does the hurt show? And does the pain grow? I’ve heard that it’s no stranger to you and me...
(Oh, and In The Air Tonight is my favorite song of all time. There are no rules when The song comes on. It is common for people and I to have drum solo competitions.)

I’m impressed, you were very chill, I was.... Well I yelled a lot of words after the impact. That should explain it.

Maybe you can score a new exhaust out of this?!

I here Richard Hammond shares your taste.

There was one “shit” in the video, but that was the guy in the front seat. I probably swore a little once I got out, but that’s because I tend to swear in general.
![]() 06/07/2015 at 23:21 |

Yes, because Hammond absolutely loves Genesis.

Oh man, you got off lucky. My first crash ended with two totaled cars and a person in the hospital. Fortunately, everyone made it out alright.
